In July and August the parking fills up before 10:00.

The Port of Alcúdia is the point where most routes around northern Mallorca begin. Before setting course for Formentor, Cap Pinar or the coves of the Llevant Natural Park, every boat leaves this seafront and crosses the bay.

But the port also has a life of its own. The marina, the fishing dock and the ferries share the space with a promenade full of terraces that links directly to Alcúdia beach. Whether you are coming to board a boat or simply want a stroll by the sea, it is worth spending some time here.

Where it is

Port d'Alcúdia sits at the western end of the Bay of Alcúdia, 2 km from Alcúdia's old town and a 45-minute drive from Palma via the Ma-13 motorway.

Tourist quay coordinates: 39°49'45" N, 3°08'50" E

Alcúdia (old town)

2 km

Can Picafort

16 km

Port de Pollença

14 km

Palma Airport

~65 km

Quick facts

Official name

Port d'Alcúdia

Municipality

Alcúdia

Type of port

Mixed (commercial, marina, fishing, tourist)

Management

Ports IB (marina) + Ports de Balears (ferries)

Approximate moorings

~700 (marina)

AST boarding point

Tourist quay, Passeig Marítim, marked with company flags

Nearby parking

Escollera car park (north) + blue zone on Av. It is also worth visiting if you arrive early for your departure and want breakfast with a sea view.

It is less suitable if you want the atmosphere of Alcúdia's old town. That lies 2 km away and is completely different: quieter and more historic. The port is busy and tourist-oriented in season.

How to get there and park

By car, take the Ma-12 road from Palma or the Ma-13. Signage to the port is clear from the roundabout at the entrance to Alcúdia.

The car parks at the marina, on Avenida Teodor Canet and at the commercial port breakwater have good capacity and are a few metres from the boarding office. In July and August both options fill up before 10:00. If your trip is in the morning, arriving before 9:30 usually makes all the difference and lets you start the day at a calmer pace. Otherwise, parking in the streets of Alcúdia town and walking 10-15 minutes works well.

By bus, Alcúdia's station is a few minutes' walk from the port. There are connections to Palma, Can Picafort, Port de Pollença and the airport, more frequent in high season.

What the Port of Alcúdia is like

The port has two areas with distinct characters.

The northern area is the commercial quay: this is where the ferries to Menorca and Barcelona dock, with the ferry terminal and vehicle access. It is functional and not especially attractive for a stroll.

The southern area is where everything of interest to visitors happens. The seafront promenade runs along the dock with restaurants, cafés, shops and several boat trip companies. In high season the atmosphere is lively: boats coming and going, tourists strolling, the smell of the sea and Mediterranean cooking.

The promenade continues towards Alcúdia beach, which begins practically as you leave the port at the southern end. Early in the morning the atmosphere is especially pleasant: boats getting ready to sail, terraces starting to fill and the bay still very calm.

Boarding point

Our boats are on the tourist quay of the seafront promenade, easily recognisable by the wooden office and the large size of the vessels, which clearly stand out from the other boats. They are marked with the company's flags.

Continuing south along the promenade from the restaurant area, you reach the boarding jetties for the tourist boats.

Arrive 20 minutes before departure, especially in July and August. Tickets can be bought online on our website or at the port counter on the day.

For added convenience, some trips have additional boarding points at the Sunwing, Ciudad Blanca and Las Gaviotas jetties. Check each trip's page on the website. For questions about the exact boarding point: +34 971 545 811.

Finding your way when you arrive

The port has two main road entrances. To reach the tourist quay, follow the signs towards the seafront promenade (Passeig Marítim), not towards the ferry terminal or the ferries.

Once on the promenade, the order is: restaurants and terraces first, then the tourist quay with the excursion boats, and Alcúdia beach at the far end. The commercial ferry quay is at the opposite end, to the north.

The public toilets nearest the tourist quay are by the port and in the Alcúdia beach area. There are ATMs along the promenade. Shade at the boarding point is limited because the quay is open; in summer it is best to arrive with sunscreen already applied.

What you can see from the port

From the promenade and the tourist quay you have a direct view over the Bay of Alcúdia. Boats arrive and depart constantly in high season.

Alcúdia beach begins a few metres south of the port: fine sand, shallow water, full facilities. If there is time before or after boarding, it is worth the visit.

Along the seafront promenade and nearby there are seafood restaurants, ice cream parlours, bars and terraces, shops and other services.

When to go

The port stays active all year round, although the boat trip season runs from April to October. In July and August the atmosphere is at its liveliest; out of season the promenade is quiet and some restaurants close.

Practical tips

In July and August the parking fills up before 10:00. If your trip departs at 9 or 10, the safest bet is to arrive at 8:45.

Have your booking on your phone. Boarding is quicker with the ticket already downloaded.

Shade at the boarding point is limited. If there is a wait, the promenade terraces are a few metres away and more comfortable than standing on the quay.

Frequently asked questions

<details>

Where exactly is our boat in the port?

On the tourist quay of the seafront promenade, marked with flags.
